To kick off summer, the Cranberry Marketing Committee (CMC) has teamed up with Chef Gaby from What’s Gaby Cooking to launch the Summer Cran Fan Challenge, encouraging consumers to share a favorite summer cranberry recipe (either a picture, video or description) to help raise funds for their local food banks. The five food banks with the most mentions will each receive $1,000.

In the United States, 42.2 million people live in food-insecure households, including 6.4 million children.¹ Food banks play an important role in helping to alleviate hunger in their communities as well as nationwide. As a chef who is an expert at whipping up delicious meals and passionate about helping the hungry, Chef Gaby combined forces with the Cranberry Marketing Committee to raise awareness for the #SummerCranFan Challenge and food insecurity.
“Giving back has always been a priority for the Cranberry Marketing Committee. We strongly believe in supporting our communities, and helping them grow in any way we can,” said Michelle Hogan, executive director of the CMC. “This is the perfect challenge not only to show the versatility of cranberries during the summer, but also to help food banks across the nation.”
Cranberries are the perfect fit for the summer-grilling season as they add a tangy twist to traditional recipes. Their unique flavor is the must-have addition to any summer menu – dried cranberries in potato or whole grain salad, cranberry sauce in your favorite barbecue sauce, cranberry juice in crafty cocktails and frozen cranberries in a refreshing smoothie – the possibilities are endless. Chef Gaby is participating in the #SummerCranFan Challenge to raise awareness for her local food bank and is encouraging consumers to do the same. Participants can help in the fight against hunger by posting a #SummerCranFan recipe on social media and mentioning a local food bank for a chance to score that organization $1,000!
Here’s how the challenge works:

Share a favorite summer cranberry recipe on social media with the hashtag #SummerCranFan
Tag or name a food bank in the post
The top five mentioned food banks will each receive a $1,000 donation from the CMC.
For inspiration on how to enjoy (and post) cranberries all summer long to help your local food bank win $1,000, join the #SummerCranFan Twitter Party on June 27, 2017 at 8pm ET.

This contest has ended.
