This notice is a follow-up to our original Market Facilitation Program Tariff Relief Payment notification in August. As you know, President Trump authorized USDA to provide up to $14.5 billion in direct payments through MFP for 2019 to assist impacted producers, which is in line with the estimated impacts of the retaliatory tariffs on – and non-tariff barriers to exports of – U.S. agricultural goods.
The good news is that some cranberry growers have received payments, and the system worked for them. The reality is that many have not, and we know this must be a frustrating time.
Unfortunately, the CMC is not in a position to assist other than to let you know that if you are not getting anywhere with your local FSA branch, then you may consider contacting your local congressional leaders to get this fixed. We also wanted to remind all growers that the sign-up for the program ends December 6, 2019.
You can find details of the program as well as your local FSA branch details here.
