Cranberry Relish Cocktail

  • To prepare the Relish Cocktail:
  • 2 oz. Buffalo Trace Whiskey
  • 1 oz cranberry syrup (recipe below)
  • 1 oz. sparkling white wine
  • 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 oz. Punt d Mes
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1-3 Orange peels for garnish
  • 1 cup ice
  • To prepare Cranberry Syrup:
  • 12 oz. fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 chopped orange peel
  • 1 to 3 sticks cinammon
  1. To prepare Cranberry Syrup: Rinse cranberries and drain off excess water. Combine all other ingredients into a pot and bring to a rapid boil, simmer for 10 minutes and remove from heat. Let set for 10 minutes. Immediately strain out solid materials. Reserve syrup for cocktail.
  2. Cocktail Preparation: Measure all ingredients except for the sparkling white wine into a mixing tin. Shake until all ingredients are well chilled. On the bottom of a chilled rocks glass with ice, pour sparkling white wine. Strain cocktail on top of sparkling wine. Squeeze orange oil on top of drink and garnish with peel
